Today I start my first training session using the Harman How to Listen software. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a while because my experience with EQing works along the lines of “Yeah, I know roughly what band that’s in, so I’ll sweep around that range”. It works, but it’s far from efficient and I admit it’s really just educated guess work.
Thus, when I found out that Harman was offering this software for free, naturally I saved it in my bookmarks and never looked at it again. Yes unfortunately that is actually how things worked out. However, as part of my overcoming-my-mid-year-funk, I took the step of actually installing it and getting listening.
It’s funny that despite having done sound for quite some time, when I’m put on the spot and asked to identify a certain frequency band, it suddenly becomes very hard.
Oh well.
Here’s to getting better at it…
