It’s been an interesting month… a bit all over the place.
Easter. The reminder of the fact that “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Let’s not forget the meaning of Easter.
No family for most of the month. Living alone. Lotsa freedom. Kinda fun. Kinda lonely. Not sure if I entirely like it.
Then there were the events and the news from friends. Weddings (three), births (one), deaths (one), sickness (too much), engagements (two), new house (two), leaving the country (three), back in the country (one), promotions (one). And for me, the month ended with opportunity. Don’t know where it’ll take me, but darn it’s going to be interesting.
And no post would be complete without mention of cycling. Well maybe a mention of how little serious cycling I’ve done this month. Sure I’ve done a fair stack of lazy commuting, but I realised this morning that I’m absolutely useless putting the power down. Time to get serious again.
Okay, I’ll admit that I’m just trying to break 30 posts for the month of April by posting lots of videos. But I thought that this one was just cool… Read more…
All sorts of stuff can be found in bike lanes, making a ride down them just a little bit more exciting. Items commonly found in bike lanes include cars, motorbikes, joggers, broken bottles, ciggie butts and now street signs!
Isn’t it nice how the headline is “Distress signs for drivers”, when it’s about something in a bike lane?
Beaaaaaaaaaaautiful morning to be out for a ride. The conditions were just ideal to be out and about. It was just a tad cold, but I was toasty warm wearing three layers on the body. Legs are rather tried from yesterday’s ride, so I decided to really wind it down and just cruise.
There’s something I really like about the dawn twilight stillness on the Yarra. It’s really peaceful rolling along the pontoon bridges, before the hum of cars rises to a crescendo, with the reflection of the moon shimmering off the river, broken only by a lone rower sculling their way upstream.
Tried to take a photo of it, but the camera phone wasn’t really up to the task. Oh my kingdom for my 400D…
Nothing strenuous today. Just a cruise down to Williamstown.
Along the way, we were passed quite slowly by some fat old blokes riding expensive European bling who said “Oh don’t worry, they’re riding fixed wheels, they can’t go fast”. Was going to chase them down, but Steve had to answer the call of nature.
*sigh* I forgot to pack black socks today. At least I remembered undies :)
One disadvantage about starting work this early is that there are no shops to quickly dash out to and resolve the problem. On the other hand, there’s also no one here to notice the white socks.
Classy!
In other news, the clouds outside look fluffy enough to take a bite out of. mmmmm fluffy.
(need to find a circular polarising filter for my phone if I’m going to keep taking these photos from the office)
I received this link some time ago, but I don’t think I posted it (at least I can’t find it in a search).
I like cello. If I wasn’t a flautist, and I had to pick a string instrument to play, I’d have picked the cello. Of course, playing bass and guitar, I realise how much a cello would have sucked to take to school every day. That’s why I’m quite glad I played the flute and picc during my school years. Anyway, on with the show…
